About Our School

Williams Tae Kwon Do was established in 1998. Our first school was in our basement. Later we moved to the Bellin Building, where one of our clients was The Green Bay Gamblers hockey team.

After that we moved to various fitness centers until making our home on Oneida Street in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin. After a short break we moved into our Broadway Street location in De Pere. The April 24, 2019 fire forced us relocate to our current location at 1259 S Military  Avenue in Green Bay. In January of 2022 we relocated across the street to 1218 S Military Ave.

Williams Tae Kwon Do is led by Master Instructor Dan Williams. Mr. Williams started his Tae Kwon Do career as an adult. After being bullied throughout his childhood and having little self esteem he decided to make a change.

He joined Chay’s Academy of Tae Kwon Do in September of 1990. Grand Master Chong Hyon Chay was the owner and Grand Master that Mr. Williams studied under.

Mr. Williams quickly realized his passion for the sport and found he had a knack for teaching beginner students. As a Red Belt he was charged to teach all of the beginner students for Grand Master Chay.

Mr. Williams received his First Degree Black Belt in December 1992. He then was asked to open a satellite school in Oconto, WI. Later, in 1995, he moved back to Green Bay to continue his teaching at Chay’s Tae Kwon Do. He soon opened his own school and established Williams Tae Kwon Do with his family.

More Than a Sport

There is more to Tae Kwon Do than kicks, punches, and blocks. Tae Kwon Do is a way of life. At Williams Tae Kwon Do students of all ages develop techniques of self defense while learning the discipline necessary to avoid confrontation.

Xiomara
Assistant Instructor

Xiomara or ZZ likes Williams TaeKwonDo because it really boosted her confidence and she’s able to learn from not just the Master Instructors but from other people.

What she loves most about being an Assistant Instructor is that she is able to help other people with something that they are struggling with or to help them with getting ready for testing.

ZZ is a 1st Degree Black Belt and has been taking lessons at Williams TaeKwonDo for a little over 3 years.

Paloma
Assistant Instructor

Paloma has been doing TaeKwonDo for three years now. She joined Taekwondo because her brother was taking lessons and she wanted to do a sport. When Paloma started Taekwondo she really didn’t see herself becoming “great” at TaeKwonDo because back then, she was only doing it to have something to do. As she got higher in belt rank she discovered that she really liked Taekwondo. Paloma stopped doing TaeKwonDo just for fun and started doing it with passion.

TaeKwonDo has helped Paloma a lot with her confidence. Without Taekwondo, she wouldn’t be the person she is today.

Nolan
Assistant Instructor
It took Nolan over 3 months to decide if he wanted to join Taekwondo. Once he did join he found it helped him boost his confidence. Nolan likes meeting new people, sparring and the workout at TaeKwonDo. Outside of TaeKwonDo he loves Michael Jackson music and dancing, funny videos, goofing around and pranking his brothers. Nolan has been taking lessons at Williams TaeKwonDo since 2021 and was very proud when he earned his black belt in January 2024.
Reed
Assistant Instructor
Reed joined Williams TaeKwonDo feeling nervous, but really liked warm ups and forms. Over time, he enjoyed getting better at self defense, forms and seeing people learn with his help. Outside of TaeKwonDo he likes playing piano, minecraft and playing with his two brothers. Reed has been taking lessons at Williams TaeKwonDo since 2021 and was excited to earn a black belt in January 2024.

Testimonials

I highly recommend Williams Taekwondo to anyone of any age. I am 27 and had no martial arts experience prior to starting about a year ago. I have learned so much already. I have gained confidence that I will be able to defend myself if the need should ever arise. In addition, Taekwondo is great exercise. Both my husband and I attend class, it's something fun we get to do together.

Family: People who come together whether blood related or not. It is the people who are with you through anything and everything. The good, the bad, the ugly. Family, is forever your “village”.

Our Taekwondo Family came together in full cheering mode to watch our Master Instructor earn his 6th Degree Black Belt tonight. I am so proud and inspired to be learning from such a great human, a great Kwan-jan-nim, a great friend.

Congratulations Daniel Williams on your testing tonight. I hope you felt all the love support we poured out. Keep being amazing!

My family and I started Williams Taekwondo at the end of June after being encouraged to try it by a friend. At first I joined it so that I could work out without having to pay for a sitter; I stayed for far different reasons. To name a few reasons, increased flexibility, a sense of accomplishment, and the learning this respected art of defense. Master Dan is great at stressing this for my 7 and 9 year old children. It is not to fight, it is to defend, and only as a last option. He is by my side and helping me to teach them respect, perseverance, confidence, loyalty, honesty, and to do their best. Class is about personal success and that all success is a family success. It is the best thing I have ever done. Thank you, Master Dan, I am so thankful that we have met and that I can proudly say I am your student.

I am very happy to have found Williams Taekwondo School because I believe it is so important to learn self-defense and build discipline through martial arts teachings. My 7-year-old daughter and I have been practicing it together for a while and enjoy it a lot. This school is like a family to us, we learn together, cheer everybody up, and motivate each other and our kids in doing our best. Master Dan Williams is a knowledgeable instructor and shows confidence in conducting the classes, always inspiring us to push ourselves while keeping it fun and challenging. He is very good with the kids and knows how to get their attention, constantly demonstrating a lot of patience to teach the little ones.

Williams Taekwondo welcomes everyone at all entry levels with open arms, making you feel not only part of the team but part of a family. Williams Taekwondo does a great job developing a class curriculum, exercises, and drills that fit all levels of fitness, ability, and age. Williams Taekwondo always promotes respect, and discipline through individual challenges, partner work, and group activities. They lead by example by demonstrating the manners and tenets of Taekwondo. Most importantly they work closely with the students, parents, and community to encourage participation. Through participating at Williams Taekwondo my child has grown tremendously. Williams Taekwondo has helped in all the ways that martial arts are known to grow one’s self. Williams Taekwondo has enhanced my child’s self-esteem by heightening his physical and mental powers. Williams Taekwondo has built confidence by encouraging him to succeed and take control of his life and actions. Williams Taekwondo has also helped in developing discipline by taking small consistent actions that help my child form habits that subsequently achieve his goals. I get to watch my child grow in all aspects. I can physically see the color of belts change as his rank gets higher over time, but Williams Taekwondo is more than just kicks and punches. Williams Taekwondo is there for my child each and every day, the good days and bad days. With a child who has ADHD it is a heartwarming feeling to see my child succeed in ways that he struggled with before Taekwondo. My child now has control over his condition, he can focus better and knows what it feels like to accomplish his goals, while building confidence. This is so important because these are traits that all successful people have and there is nothing more than a mother wants than to have a child succeed and grow to be the best individual that he can be. I truly believe Williams Taekwondo has impacted not only my child’s life in a positive way but has helped us as a family.
