The family that “Kicks” together, “Sticks” together!
About Our School
Williams Tae Kwon Do was established in 1998. Our first school was in our basement. Later we moved to the Bellin Building, where one of our clients was The Green Bay Gamblers hockey team.
After that we moved to various fitness centers until making our home on Oneida Street in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin. After a short break we moved into our Broadway Street location in De Pere. The April 24, 2019 fire forced us relocate to our current location at 1259 S Military Avenue in Green Bay. In January of 2022 we relocated across the street to 1218 S Military Ave.
Williams Tae Kwon Do is led by Master Instructor Dan Williams. Mr. Williams started his Tae Kwon Do career as an adult. After being bullied throughout his childhood and having little self esteem he decided to make a change.
He joined Chay’s Academy of Tae Kwon Do in September of 1990. Grand Master Chong Hyon Chay was the owner and Grand Master that Mr. Williams studied under.
Mr. Williams quickly realized his passion for the sport and found he had a knack for teaching beginner students. As a Red Belt he was charged to teach all of the beginner students for Grand Master Chay.
Mr. Williams received his First Degree Black Belt in December 1992. He then was asked to open a satellite school in Oconto, WI. Later, in 1995, he moved back to Green Bay to continue his teaching at Chay’s Tae Kwon Do. He soon opened his own school and established Williams Tae Kwon Do with his family.
More Than a Sport
There is more to Tae Kwon Do than kicks, punches, and blocks. Tae Kwon Do is a way of life. At Williams Tae Kwon Do students of all ages develop techniques of self defense while learning the discipline necessary to avoid confrontation.
Meet Our Instructors
Mr. Williams is now a Sixth Degree International Master Instructor in the art of Ji Do Kwan style Tae Kwon Do. He is certified through the Kukkiwon in Korea.
He has taught many students over the years as well as Women’s Self Defense classes to local, businesses, schools, and non-profit organizations.
His hobbies include running and watching movies.
His greatest Tae Kwon Do accomplishments over the years have been when Ms. Denise and his son Trent received their Black Belts.
Ms. Denise has been in Tae Kwon Do for over 15 years. She has competed in numerous tournaments and is a champion in forms competition.
She currently holds the rank of a 4th Degree Black Belt, certified through the Tae Kwon Do headquarters in Korea.
Her passion lies with teaching. She is a middle school math teacher and her skills are shown as she helps the smallest of students.
Her hobbies include working out at the gym and spending time with her kids and dog Deuce.
Trent started Tae Kwon Do when he was six years old. He earned his yellow belt through Wolf TKD, and earned the rest of his belts with Williams TKD. Trent earned his First Degree Black Belt in April of 2012. He is now a 4th Degree Master Instructor.
Trent attends UW - Madison where he participates the Badger Marching Band and the Taekwondo Club. He has also competed in numerous tournaments over the years both as color belt and black belt. Trent recently took second place at the 2019 USA National Collegiate Taekwondo Championships.
Jeff originally started in martial arts as a child. He picked up Taekwondo as a family activity when he started at Williams Taekwondo and then proceeded to earn his black belt in July 2023.
Jeff works as a Lead Software Engineer. When not working, he also enjoys spending time with his family, playing league volleyball, listening to live music, attending developer conferences, playing board games and many other interests.
Xiomara or ZZ likes Williams TaeKwonDo because it really boosted her confidence and she’s able to learn from not just the Master Instructors but from other people.
What she loves most about being an Assistant Instructor is that she is able to help other people with something that they are struggling with or to help them with getting ready for testing.
ZZ is a 1st Degree Black Belt and has been taking lessons at Williams TaeKwonDo for a little over 3 years.
Paloma has been doing TaeKwonDo for three years now. She joined Taekwondo because her brother was taking lessons and she wanted to do a sport. When Paloma started Taekwondo she really didn’t see herself becoming “great” at TaeKwonDo because back then, she was only doing it to have something to do. As she got higher in belt rank she discovered that she really liked Taekwondo. Paloma stopped doing TaeKwonDo just for fun and started doing it with passion.
TaeKwonDo has helped Paloma a lot with her confidence. Without Taekwondo, she wouldn’t be the person she is today.
Testimonials
Family: People who come together whether blood related or not. It is the people who are with you through anything and everything. The good, the bad, the ugly. Family, is forever your “village”.
Our Taekwondo Family came together in full cheering mode to watch our Master Instructor earn his 6th Degree Black Belt tonight. I am so proud and inspired to be learning from such a great human, a great Kwan-jan-nim, a great friend.
Congratulations Daniel Williams on your testing tonight. I hope you felt all the love support we poured out. Keep being amazing!
